Openings still available in June 22-26 basketball camp

P O W E L L, W y o. - Boys age 10-17 can find a spot in the 2008 Northwest College Boys Basketball Camp if they act early. The camp runs from June 22-26 at Northwest College in Powell.

Andy Ward, coach of the NWC Men's Trapper Basketball Team, directs the camp, which utilizes three indoor and one outdoor court. With an emphasis on the fundamentals, each day features game and basketball contests, group and individual drills, man defensive, ball-handling and shooting sessions, as well as fast break leagues. The final day also features an awards ceremony.

Ward has worked at and directed several basketball camps around the country, including camps in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Alaska, Oklahoma and Mississippi. In 1996, he helped direct the Nike Swiss All-Star Basketball Camp in Zofingen, Switzerland.

He's coached numerous All-American, All-Regional and All-Conference players during his collegiate coaching career. At Eastern Wyoming College, his teams twice won the Region IX tournament and placed eighth at the national tournament.

He brings the best of his experience as well as guest lecturers from other basketball authorities to the Northwest College camp. Check-in time is 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22. The camp concludes Thursday, June 26, at 1 p.m.

Tuition is $275 for those who choose to live on campus and includes all meals, lodging, awards and tuition. Commuters pay $175.
