P O W E L L, W y o. - The Gear Up Program at Northwest College will host a free Quantum Learning Workshop from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, in the basement of the DeWitt Student Center on the Powell campus.

School systems around the country are sending teachers to Quantum Learning (QL) workshops and continuing education seminars because studies have shown dramatic increases in students' motivation, grades, confidence and self-esteem after QL implementation. QL is based on three core beliefs: 1) all people can learn; 2) people learn differently; and 3) learning is effective when it is engaging and challenging.

The NWC Gear Up program is an organized support system for middle and high school students and their families. This Gear Up-sponsored workshop is open to the public as a way of providing QL concepts and applications to Big Horn Basin parents and students so the positive effects can be reinforced at home and on an individual student level.

The program is presented free of charge and includes lunch.
An expanded program designed expressly for teachers, youth workers, counselors and administrators will be presented Thursday and Friday, Aug. 16-17.

To reserve a seat or for more information about either workshop, e-mail or call Dana Gillett at (307) 754-7823, or Rob Hill at (307) 754-7822.
