POWELL, WYOMING – Registration for the 51st annual Showalter Music Festival, scheduled for Saturday, February 7, is now open. The event is sponsored by Northwest College and will be held in the Nelson Performing Arts Building. Open to brass, woodwind, percussion, guitar, vocal, and piano students who are in grades 5-8, the cost per entry is $12 and includes a 6-minute performance slot with brief adjudicator comments for the performers.
School and studio directors are responsible for registering students for the festival. Parents of interested students are asked to coordinate with their school’s music department or private studio director to be added to their registration roster. The deadline to register is Wednesday, January 21, and all related information can be found at northwestmusic.org/showalter-music-festival/.
Awards will be presented at the Honors Concert at the festival’s conclusion where all outstanding musicians will be given the opportunity to perform. Scholarships to the Yellowstone Summer Music Camp will be awarded to every student that performs.
The festival is named in memory of Dr. Victor Showalter, former Professor of Music at Northwest College who started the festival in 1975.
