Software classes starting soon in Cody and Powell

POWELL, Wyoming — Short classes in Excel, Word and QuickBooks start soon in Powell and Cody through the Northwest College Centers for Training and Development.

Identical trainings in Excel and Word are offered in two formats: as all-day trainings in Powell, or separated into two-evening sessions in Cody.

Those wanting to learn the basics of Microsoft’s Excel 2013 can attend a one-day class Thursday, Oct. 1, in Powell, or two evening sessions Thursday, Nov. 5 and 12, in Cody.

Both classes focus on giving participants the skills needed to design and organize the best possible worksheet before entering any numbers. Editing, printing, formulas and functions are emphasized.  The $99 cost includes a comprehensive manual. Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) credits and Continuing Education Units (CEU) are available.

Excel intermediate training is offered in a one-day class Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Powell, and in two evening sessions Monday and Thursday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 3, in Cody.

This training delves into managing multiple worksheets and workbooks, advanced formatting, lists and tables and a large variety of other advanced skills. The $99 cost includes a manual. CEU and PTSB credit is available.

The basics of Word 2013 are covered in two evening sessions, Thursday, Oct. 15 and 22, in Cody, or in a one-day class Tuesday, Dec. 8, in Powell.  Topics range from the basics of entering text to saving and editing documents and inserting graphics. Both classes cost $99 and carry PTSB and CEU credits.

Two QuickBooks 2015 classes will be offered in Cody in November. A “Daily Activities” class meets from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on two Fridays, Nov. 6 and 13, to train users in mastering daily activities and fundamental functions of the software. The $139 cost includes a manual.

The all-day “Managing Your Business” class Friday, Nov. 20, focuses on tracking financial tasks, managing files and inventory, budget and planning, sales tax, and tracking finances with reports and graphs. Cost is $89 and includes a manual.
