POWELL, Wyoming — Little buckaroos and old buckaroos alike are invited to head on down to the Northwest College Equine Center Saturday, Oct. 31, for a Stick Horse Rodeo and Costume Contest.

The excitement gets underway at 2 p.m. with four rodeo events.

In the bucking horse event, riders are judged on their best imitation of a bucking horse; and in the jumping event they’re judged on creativity of jumps and spins employed as they move over a pole on the ground. The barrels event follows a typical barrel racing pattern. In the speed poles event, riders will be challenged to be the fastest to weave through a series of poles.

Riders will be asked to parade for the costume event, which also awards several prizes.

The audience gets in free, but competitors pay $5. They can bring their own stick horse or rent one for $2.

All ages are invited to join in the fun.

The Stick Horse Rodeo and Costume Contest is sponsored by the NWC Horseman’s Club.
