P O W E L L, W y o. - Advance tickets are now available to hear the man who's been called the "world's greatest trumpeter" when he performs Friday, March 16, in Powell.

Jon Faddis will headline the 2007 Northwest Jazz Festival's Friday concert. He's been called the best in the world by John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie and Time Out New York, to name a few. Noting Faddis' unparalleled range and full command of his instrument, the Wall Street Journal describes him as "a trumpet player of prodigious lyrical force."

His talent has taken him to the summits of American jazz as guest conductor or featured guest with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Grammy-winning United Nation Orchestra, Carnegie Hall Jazz Band and the Dizzy Gillespie 70th Birthday Big Band.

The night before Faddis' concert, the vocal jazz group Vocalogy headlines the festival's Thursday concert. The quintet, which focuses a range of five-and-a-half octaves on jazz standards, is known for its improvised solos, tight ensemble work and harmonies.

Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Powell High School Auditorium. Tickets to the Vocalogy concert are $15 apiece; Jon Faddis Quartet admission is $18. Click here for information on advance tickets and to learn more about the artists.

Advance tickets can also be purchased in Cody at the Cody Newsstand and in Powell at the Northwest College Bookstore and the Nelson Performing Arts Center.

The Northwest Jazz Festival is supported in part by a grant from the VSA Arts of Wyoming, the Wyoming Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
