POWELL, Wyo. - The Northwest College Music Department glides into spring with a trombone recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in the Nelson Performing Arts Center Auditorium.

This perennial event features the NWC Trombone Choir and NWC Student Brass Quintet.

Selections from the Trombone Choir include “Choral,” “Amparito Roca,” “Comedy for Trombones,” “Colloquy” and “How Do I Look in Blue.”

Trombone solos from the choir feature John Henderson and Josh Hopkin of Greybull and Chris Allphin of Cody.

The Student Brass Quintet performs “Surgentem cum victoria,” the “Pavane” and “Waltz” from “Ballets in Brass” and Bartók’s “Allegro Irónico.”

Other trombonists include Jack Nauman of Basin, Jessica Schreiner and Justin Mickelson of Lovell and Mike Masterson and Jared Nielsen of Powell.

Rachel Willis and Megan Hansen round out the brass ensemble.

Both groups are under the direction of NWC’s low brass instructor Rick Parmer, who encourages the community to come listen to these horns in their final concert of the season.

Admission is free and open to the public.
