Workshop on preventing shoplifting March 22 in Powell

P O W E L L, W y o. - Sergeant Roy Eckerdt of the Powell Police Department will talk about how to prevent shoplifting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Northwest College Center for Training and Development on the college's West Campus.

Eckert will start with a description of the factors that contribute to shoplifting and then focuses on the local problem. He'll offer considerations for an effective response strategy and suggest specific responses to reduce shoplifting. He'll also discuss legal options, including what employees can do and what they can expect from law enforcement.

Cost for the hour-and-a-half presentation, which includes lunch, is $20. It is sponsored by the NWC Center for Training and Development, Wyoming Small Business Development Center, U.S. Small Business Administration, Wyoming Business Council, and the University of Wyoming.
