P O W E L L, W y o. - It's become a tradition for the Northwest College Rodeo Council to host a fund-raising gala each year. Confirming that the ritual is alive and well, the council once again invites the Big Horn Basin to its annual Rodeo Gala Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Cody Auditorium. This year's celebration marks the 10th annual gala.
The event starts with a 5:30 p.m. social hour, followed by a prime rib dinner at 6:30 p.m. A traditional auction and a silent auction give gala goers an opportunity to bid on western art works and other valuable items. Among items up for bid are several handmade western articles made by well-known local artisans.
The annual gala is sponsored by the Northwest Rodeo Council in support of the NWC Rodeo Team. This year, the Northwest women's and men's teams are ranked four and fifth, respectively, in the Big Sky Region. Funds raised during the event are used to help underwrite the team's travel costs, scholarships and special schooling.
Tickets are available at the door, or in advance by calling NWC Rodeo Coach Del Nose at (307) 527-6905. Couples pay $50; single tickets cost $30.
