The Northwest College women also opened Region IX play victorious, winning 65-56 over Otero on Monday afternoon. The Trappers held the Rattlers to just two points over the final four minutes of the game to pull away for the win.
The Trappers advance to face Sheridan College in a 1 p.m. quarterfinal game today (Tuesday). Sheridan was a 72-59 winner over Dawson in its opening round tournament game.
Individual stats from Monday’s win were unavailable when today’s paper went to press. Monday’s victory marked the first time since the 2009 season that the Trapper women have hung around beyond the opening round of the Region IX tournament.
