Lady Trappers Earn Dominating 95 Point Win

Winning by almost 100 points in a Region IX Conference game, the Northwest College women’s basketball team rolled past Little Big Horn College on Jan. 13.

This was the first conference win of the season for the Lady Trappers of Northwest College. The Trappers then lost on the road Saturday afternoon at Miles City, Mont.

In the home game, the Lady Trappers pulled out to a 53-13 lead at halftime over Little Big Horn. There would be no let-up in the second half and the Trappers cruised to a 114-19 win.

According to nwc.edu, the Trappers had seven players reach double figures in the lopsided conference win.

Whitney Hatch and Aubree Porter each scored 16 points on the night to lead Northwest. Hatch also corralled 10 rebounds. Kealani Sagapolu netted 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Larissa Knight and Jacey Shaw each scored 12 points. Shelby Nicholson and Chandler Rose added 10 points each. Nicholson led the team with 13 rebounds and Rose also had a double-double with 10 rebounds.

It was a close battle over the weekend for the Lady Trappers against the Miles Community College Pioneers. The game was tied 33-all at halftime, but the Pioneers pulled out a 79-73 win.

According to region9athletics.com, the visiting Lady Trappers had four players score in double figures. Sagapolu led the way with 23 points in the road loss.

Rose netted 17 points, Shaw scored 13, while Nicholson scored 12 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds. Miles City had five players score in double figures on the day.

Northwest CC women’s basketball (8-12 overall, 1-3 Region IX) next plays a home game against Western Wyoming Community College at Powell.
