Northwest College honored student athletes on the soccer, basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams for accomplishments in both academics and athletics at Tuesday night’s Trapper Athletic Awards Ceremony.

NWC Places 12th At Nationals
It wasn’t the finish they’d hoped for, but the Northwest Trapper wrestling team took 12th place at last weekend’s NJCAA National Championships and had two wrestlers make it onto the podium with All-American recognition. Lisiate Anau finished fourth at 285 pounds and Jeffrey Oakes, at 197 pounds, finished sixth at the national competition in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The Northwest College wrestling team will enter this weekend’s NJCAA National Championships with five nationally ranked wrestlers.

Trapper Wrestlers District Champs
Hosting the National Junior College Athletic Association Rocky Mountain District Qualifier proved fruitful for the Northwest College wrestling team as nine individuals qualified for nationals and the Trappers placed first as a team. NWC head coach Jim Zeigler received the Rocky Mountain District coach of the year award and heavyweight wrestler Lisiate Anau won the Outstanding Wrestler award.
