Sixth-ranked North Idaho College emerged with a 27-17 victory over Northwest College during wrestling action in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho last Friday.

During the setback, the eighth-ranked Trappers won four bouts. Trapper McCade Ford picked up four team points with a victory via technical fall at 141, and Anthony Varnell and Tyler Jones both registered decisions over their opponents at 149 and 157, respectively. In the heavyweight bout, Trapper standout Landon Harris won via pin, adding six more points to NWC's point total.

Those suffering losses for the Trappers were Eddie Whiting (125), Saul Guerrero (133), Tyrell Wright (174), Dustin Baldwin (184) and Mak Jones (197). NWC suffered a forfeit at 165.

"It wasn't a great weekend for us, but we had some guys do pretty well," said NWC assistant coach Cort Petersen.

On Saturday, the Trappers were scheduled to face Southwest Oregon Community College, also in Coeur d'Alene. However, Petersen said the Lakers failed to make the trip because the team's bus sustained a broken axle.
