Student Academic Showcase
For Presenters
The Student Academic Showcase highlights student work involving creativity, discovery, research, innovation, and/or entrepreneurship. The showcase builds on classroom experiences and is a venue where you can share your work with faculty, student peers, and community members. It also helps you build upon your presentation and performance skills; these skills can translate into greater success later on in your academic or professional careers.
Why you should consider presenting
- Gain valuable experience presenting at a professional conference
- Help gain admissions into bachelor or graduate programs
- Develop a network with current UW graduate students with similar research interests
- Share your scholarly work with family and friends
- Improve your presentation skills
- Enhance your resume
Request mentorship
If you are interested in presenting at the showcase, you will need to have a faculty mentor. Your mentor is a faculty member with whom you have been working on a project or assignment. When you register for the SAS, you will need to provide the name and email address of your mentor. This person will be emailed to confirm that they are mentoring you.
So you want to present – What Now?
Think about what format will be best for sharing your work. The options are: poster, presentation (often with a slideshow), or exhibit/demonstration. You can present individually or as a group. Talk to your mentor about your ideas to determine the best fit.
