Transfer Timeline
Freshman Fall
- Start to plan your future college and career goals.
- Research colleges and majors that will help you reach those goals; size, location, degree programs, cost, academic and social environment, job/internships opportunities and articulation agreements are all factors to consider.
- Create a short list of your top five colleges.
- Meet with you advisor or the Career and Transfer Coordinator to discuss your options for transfer colleges. With their help select courses at NWC that complete degree requirements and will transfer to your colleges of interest.
- Focus on your school work and grades. Your performance at NWC can factor heavily into the transfer process. Keep a copy of all course syllabi.
Freshman Spring
- Attend transfer fairs; they are a great way to gather information about colleges.
- Visit the colleges of interest to you.
- Research all transfer requirements, admission deadlines, scholarship requirements and deadlines, and financial aid deadlines for your college(s) of interest. Carefully record and keep track of all materials and deadlines.
- Consider summer courses and/or internships.
Sophomore Fall
- Send applications to college(s) of interest. Keep a copy of all materials you send;
application, letters of recommendation, essays, transcripts and others.
- Submit an application for general college admission.
- Submit an application for your program of study.
- Request an official degree audit from Northwest College.
- File the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct 1. Be sure to know the FAFSA code from your new college.
- Submit applications for scholarships.
Sophomore Spring
- Apply for graduation from Northwest College.
- Request a copy of your transcript be sent to you and to your college(s) of interest. Double check the transcript information for accuracy.
- Request a transcript evaluation from your new college.
- Send a copy of your immunization records to your college(s) of interest.
- Submit application for housing at your new college.
- Register for classes at your new college.
- Accept your financial aid awards from your new college.
- Take advantage of the orientation programs at your new college.
