At a venue where they certainly had nothing to lose, the Northwest College Trappers, ranked sixth in the season-opening NJCAA poll, dropped a 24-13 decision to the University of Wyoming in wrestling dual action on Friday.

The Northwest College wrestling program prepares for the spotlight this Friday night as the team heads to Laramie for a head-to- head showdown against the University of Wyoming. The opportunity has Trapper head coach Jim Zeigler elated.

Seven place at Northwest College Open
Returning NJCAA national runner-up Landon Harris cruised to the title at 285 pounds and six other Trapper wrestlers found their way into the top four on Saturday at the NWC Open in Cabre Gym. The tournament was the first of the 2009-2010 college wrestling season for the Trappers.

Getting started
Approximately 150 wrestlers representing three NCAA Division I schools, a pair of ranked NAIA programs and three junior colleges will descend upon Northwest College this Saturday for the Northwest College Open tournament. The event serves as the kickoff for the 2009-2010 season.

Seven starters, including three junior college All- Americans and two other national tournament qualifiers, return this season for Northwest College head wrestling coach Jim Zeigler. The team will be gunning for its 16th consecutive finish in the national top 10.
