Trapper women split weekend games
The Northwest College Trappers split their games to open women’s basketball season. The Trapper women won 71-53 over the Rocky Mountain JV squad on Friday, but fell 70-63 to the Montana Western JV team on Saturday.

The Northwest College women’s basketball team returns four players with starting experience and features what head coach Janis Beal calls her deepest team in the post to this point in her NWC tenure. Combined, the two traits should give fans of women’s basketball plenty to salivate over this season.

NWC women's basketball team named to academic honor roll
The Northwest College women’s basketball team and head coach Janis Beal have been named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s academic top 25 team honor roll for the 2011-12 season. NWC interim athletic director Rex Myers announced the honor late last week.

Trappers, teams honored by NJCAA
Two Northwest College athletic programs and four Trapper student-athletes have been recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association for their efforts in the classroom. The awards were announced this past week by the NJCAA.

Medeiros, Saltsman named athletes of the year
Leonardo Medeiros and Cheyenne Saltsman were named the athletes of the year for Northwest College on Monday night at the school’s annual athletic awards ceremony. The dinner and program was held at The Commons in downtown Powell.
